PayPal Virtual Card Numbers

I have talked before about the importance of securing your credit and debit card numbers using services like Privacy.com and Blur. Pay Pal has just implemented their own version of virtual card numbers called PayPal Key. The new feature uses the Master Card system to generate virtual card numbers to use anywhere that is linked to your choice of payment method in your PayPal wallet. You can generate new card numbers as needed and disable old ones as needed. PayPal Key works with google pay but does not work with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Plastiq payments, American Express Cards as a funding option, or on tax payments apparently.

If your payment information is stolen from an online merchant through a data breach, you can feel secure knowing that the payment information stolen is only good for that one merchant and can be disabled.
